How Yard Fit works
Yard Fit v2 is a deterministic compatibility model. It compares a mower's known specifications with lawn size and the preferences entered in the Finder. It is not a product review score and its fit labels are not probabilities.
Facts the model uses
Lawn-size fit uses cutting-deck width, drive type, battery runtime when applicable, and product weight for compact-yard handling. Finder results can also use your power-source preference, self-propelled requirement, budget, and a known product price.
Battery runtime is always described as a manufacturer claim. Gas models are not assigned an invented runtime. If MSRP is absent, a dated manufacturer-observed price may be used for the budget check.

Strong fit
The known facts align closely with the selected yard.
Good fit
The mower is compatible, with modest tradeoffs.
Mixed fit
One or more known constraints deserve attention.
Poor fit
Known facts conflict with an important yard requirement.
Confidence and missing facts
Confidence reports evidence coverage, not fit quality. High means at least 85% of the facts relevant to that calculation are known; medium means at least 55%; low means less than 55%. A missing runtime, weight, or price is excluded from the fit score and listed as a confidence limit. It is never silently treated as zero.
Ranking and boundaries
In Finder rankings, lawn-size compatibility has the largest weight. Explicit power and drive choices follow, then the budget check when a price is known. Ties resolve by evidence confidence, known price, and finally product slug, so the same inputs always produce the same order.
Yard Fit does not infer hill performance, traction, thick-grass performance, cut quality, or durability. Those claims require separate verified evidence and are outside this model.
